Roman on the Issues
Roman is focused on real solutions—not social media fame. He volunteers, writes on local issues, and has long worked behind the scenes to support his community.
The Economy
For too long, high taxes, red tape, and burdensome overregulation have stifled Michigan’s economy. Young people are fleeing our state for better opportunities. It’s time to make Michigan the greatest place in the nation to live, work, and retire again. We need to be competitive with other states by lowering taxes on individuals and small businesses. Cutting wasteful government spending will give Michiganders more money in their pockets. As your representative, I will demand fiscal accountability from Lansing.
Education
One of the core functions of government is to ensure every child has access to a quality education. We need more teachers and less administrators. A functioning society needs critical thinkers, so children should be taught how to think, not what to think–education, not indoctrination. We have to embrace parents’ rights. Parents are the number one advocate for their child’s education, as they know their child better than anyone. We also need to expand educational pathways other than four-year degrees: we can partner with industry to provide direct pathways to well-paying, sustainable employment.
Immigration
I will have a zero tolerance policy on illegal immigration, as illegal immigrants take jobs and resources from Michiganders who are struggling the hardest. We have to put Michiganders first. That means supporting the best and brightest–as long as they respect our culture and laws–in moving to Michigan. We want hardworking talent who will start businesses, thereby creating jobs and growing the economy for Michiganders.
Seniors
First and foremost, we must protect Medicare and Social Security. Beyond that, we have to give caregivers tax credits as payment for the invaluable services they provide to our most vulnerable. Both state and private pensions must be protected from taxation. We simply have to do better by our seniors.
Gun Rights
The Founding Fathers enshrined the Second Amendment into the Bill of Rights for good reason: a well-armed population is the best defense against evildoers. I will support the Second Amendment as your state representative. This includes repealing red flag laws which enable people to remove your right to bear arms without due process. I believe gun owners should be educated about the risks and responsibilities of owning firearms. I support responsible gun ownership.
Healthcare
Michiganders face ridiculously high costs for health insurance and prescription drug prices. We have to allow Medicaid to negotiate prescription drug prices at the state level. Rural areas in our district do not have enough access to in-person care–especially mental healthcare. We must require insurance companies to cover telehealth at equal rates. And, of course, we must ensure people with preexisting conditions have access to affordable health insurance.
Protecting Women and Girls
Progressives have been eroding the rights of women in the name of gender ideology. This has to stop. Men have no right to play in women’s sports. This is fundamentally unsafe and unfair. Boys have no right to go in the girls’ locker room. Women and girls deserve private spaces for protection and peace of mind. As your representative, I will never compromise on the safety of women and girls.
Local Control
Lansing bureaucrats want to take away local control over land. This cannot happen. Local community members know better than big government on how best to use their land. I will stand strong against efforts to build solar and wind farms without local approval. Local control is about more than Lansing–it’s also about foreign adversaries. We need to ban communist China from buying our land.
Conserving Pure Michigan
Michigan’s forests and lakes are a national treasure. The Great Lakes are the lifeblood of Michigan’s tourism industry. I will work to provide local communities the resources they need to protect these natural wonders, ensuring Michiganders and other Americans alike can continue to enjoy our beautiful outdoors. This includes supporting clean water initiatives, protecting endangered species, and preserving biodiversity in our forests.
